Founded in 1981 by Jacopo Fo , the Free University of Alcatraz is a magnificent holiday destination nestled in the hills between Gubbio and Perugia. A place where citizens meet lovers of good food and good manners. Alcatraz consists of a central structure and a series of stone houses and bungalows arranged on the side of the hill. Approximately four million square meters of green and 20 km of narrow streets in the woods. Around there is not a simple park. There is a whole valley with a limpid stream, full of fish and crabs, that flows among the hills covered with woods and olive groves. A land rich in greenery and evidence of the human past. From the remains of the Etruscan loculi, engraved on the rocks overlooking the river, the castles, the abbeys, the villages and the medieval towers of which the area is all scattered.
In other words, Alcatraz provides a currency similar to Aigues-Mortes, or akin to the Eko of Findhorn in Scotland.
