The original transition initiative in Brighton and Hove, known as 'Earthship Brighton', started in 2006 in Stanmer Park. Relatively quiet since then on the transition front, this seaside resort has recently come into collectors' sight with the introduction of its Goodmoney ethical vouchers. Although not connected directly to the transition initiative, this 'currency' has been included here partly as it can be bought and exchanged on a Goodmoney pound for sterling pound basis. Accepted by over 200 businesses, the system is managed by Goodmoney CIC, a social enterprise founded in 2014 with ecological principles.
The scheme was launched on 24 September 2015 at Wagner Hall attended by local Green Party MP, Caroline Lucas. Each voucher (or set of vouchers) is supplied with a free gift card, included here for interest. Many entries were submitted for the design of the cards.
